Sam Jacobs coughs into his hand but still shakes the hand of his friend
Jacobs says he covered his mouth when he coughed but didn’t think to offer a fist bump instead of a shake to prevent the spread of his germs to his friend.
However, Jacobs contends he did not initiate the shake. “It was a gut reaction,” He says. “Wallace extended the shake to me. It all happened so fast.” While Jacobs did proceed with the handshake knowing he had snot and mucus particles all over his hand, he immediately told Wallace to wash his hands or use sanitizer to prevent himself from getting sick. Jacobs later said that fist-bumping was a generational thing he wasn’t aware of.
Wallace was appreciative of the remarks, and the two began their workday.
